NYSE
Definition: New York Stock Exchange. The NYSE uses live floor traders to make their trades while the Nasdaq and other exchanges are mainly computer driven.
The NYSE is a corporation operated by a board of directors, they oversee the policies, listing securities and the supervision of the exchange and its members activities. The NYSE is also responsible for the transfer of "seats" on the exchange, judging the validity of applicants as specialists.
