Glossary of Option Terms: Futures
Futures
Definition: A contract that the buyer/seller is obligated to purchase at a future date, unless the holder's position has changed prior to expiration. The major difference between options and futures is that options give you the right to buy or sell an underlying asset up until expiration while futures buyers are obligated to fulfill the terms of their contract.
